The Business Accounting Certificate is a 33-credit-hour program which prepares students for entry level positions in jobs designated as accounting clerk, bookkeeper, payroll/receivables/billing payables clerk or assistant accountant. Certificate recipients are competent to record and maintain financial data in journals and ledgers from date of original transaction through a full accounting cycle terminating with closing entries and statement preparation. Students also receive training in managerial and tax applications. The application of microcomputers/software is a prominent program feature.
All certificate courses may be applied to Associate’s of Applied Sciences degree (A.A.S.) in Accounting. Most certificate courses can be transferred to a four-year institution.

The Specialty Certificate is designed for experienced students who wish to gain an in-depth expertise in a specific field by pursuing an individually designed intense course of study of at least 18 credits.
To qualify for this program, you must have completed at least 30 credits of approved collegiate study in a discipline other than the one for which the Specialty Certificate is sought. In consultation with the appropriate Discipline Coordinator, a minimum 18 credit sequence of courses to be taken at Montgomery County Community College will be designed.
