In addition to a well-rounded background in liberal arts and humanities, business students learn concepts and principles necessary to be successful business executives and to manage in today’s globally competitive, rapidly changing business environment. Each program provides students with high-quality education and gives each individual support from exceptionally well-qualified professionals with extensive experience in the field. During the program, students develop strong ethical skills and knowledge of business theories and techniques along with hands-on experience which gives life-long learning. The Bachelor of Business Administration can be earned in the following major fields of study:

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting is a 120 credit-hour program designed for students who are seeking careers in the accounting areas of corporate accounting, taxation, audit, or accounting professionals services. The program consists of:

Undergraduate Studies

The College of Arts and Sciences / School of Business Administration (CAS/SBA), our day session, accepts traditional students into the College’s bachelor degree programs. Courses are offered at the Jersey City campus throughout the academic year. High school or college transfer students may visit the CAS/SBA Office of Admission for additional information.

The School of Professional and Continuing Studies (SPCS) was established to continue the College’s long tradition of providing a quality, liberal arts and business education to adult students. The SPCS prides itself on offering a variety of course schedules on evenings and weekends designed to meet the needs of today’s adult students. Courses are offered at both the Jersey City and Englewood Cliffs campuses and a variety of off-site locations for convenience. Visit the SPCS Office of Admission for information on admission to our bachelor degree, associate degree, and certification programs.

All undergraduate summer sessions are offered by the SPCS as well.
Graduate Studies

Offering master’s degree and certification programs at both campuses and a variety of off-site locations, Graduate Studies has designed its course schedules to meet the needs of adult students. Visit the Graduate Studies Office of Admission for information on the admission process.

Concentration (9 credits)

If a candidate takes three courses in a single area, the student may graduate with an MBA concentration in:

International Business. Management Information Systems.

A candidate may take only one concentration in a 63 credit hour program. To receive a second concentration, the candidate must take an additional six credits.

To apply for admission, a candidate completes an Application Form and submits it with a transcript (in English) showing completion of a bachelor’s degree. The transcript may be a copy. In addition to an application and transcript, international students must provide evidence of English language proficiency. The applicant may submit a TOEFL score, a transcript showing successful completion of college courses taught in English, or a letter from an administrator or professor at a college or university identifying the level of English language proficiency.
Evaluation of Applications

Applications will be evaluated based upon information submitted in the application, undergraduate grade point averages and letters of recommendation. The College may request additional information, including scores on the GMAT, GRE, MAT, LSAT, or other standardized exams. The College will promptly notify applicants of the status of the application.

Real-World Experience

Students have the opportunity to participate in the Study Abroad Global Apprentice Program in Oxford, England. In addition to 6 hours of course credit, students work with the non-profit company OXFAM while competing for scholarships and an internship.
Leadership Summit, a short course offered in Colorado, provides dynamic speakers, practical application, skill building and spiritual development.
Even before graduation, students have real-world investing opportunities. Through ACU’s STAR (Student Research and Training) Fund, 13 students and three faculty members manage an investment fund of more than $300,000, buying and selling stocks to manage the portfolio. The fund provides scholarships to students in COBA.

Exceptional Degrees
ACU’s College of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB International, the highest accreditation body for schools of business. Of the more than 2,000 institutions in the world offering business degrees, only 450 have AACSB accreditation.
Students taking the CPA test at ACU pass at a rate of more than twice the national average on their first attempt.
A degree in accounting or finance can lead to careers in corporate accounting, financial institutions, industrial firms, public accounting, education and governmental/non-profit services.
Recent graduates have been employed by companies such as Procter & Gamble, Burlington Northern, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Southwest Airlines and many more.
Among the many distinguished Department of Accounting and Finance alumni are Craig Stone, partner, Ernst & Young; Bruce Huff, CFO, Harken Energy Corporation; and Holt Lunsford, president, The Holt Company.

Collectively, faculty in the Department of Accounting and Finance have more than 100 years of professional experience outside the classroom.
College of Business Administration faculty have significant industry experience with companies such as Conoco, Marathon, Lockheed Martin, Ford Motor Company and every major accounting firm in the nation.
