Minor in Accounting at Hofstra University

Minor Requirements
A Minor in Accounting consists of the successful completion of a minimum of 18 semester hours of course work with grades of C- or better, under faculty advisement in the Department of Accounting, Taxation, and Legal Studies in Business, with at least 9 semester hours in residence.

The requirements are:
ACCT 101 - Financial Accounting Semester Hours: 3
ACCT 102 - Managerial Accounting Semester Hours: 3
ACCT 123 - Financial Accounting Theory and Practice I Semester Hours: 3
ACCT 124 - Financial Accounting Theory and Practice II Semester Hours: 3

two additional three-credit accounting courses selected under advisement

Notes:
A completed minor in accounting will be listed on the student’s transcript.

No School of Business course may be taken on a Pass/D+/D/Fail basis.

Nonbusiness majors may choose an Accounting minor.
No student pursuing a bachelor’s degree other than a Bachelor of Business Administration degree may complete more than 30 semester hours of School of Business course work without permission of the School of Business Dean’s Office. The student must have the appropriate form approved by and filed with the major and minor departments.

All minors must be declared at the Office of Academic Records.

Accounting Scholarship Opportunities at Marietta College

The Jules Bourmorck and Julia Bourmorck Staats Memorial Scholarship provides support to a junior or senior majoring in economics, management, or accounting.

The Douglas C. Greene Scholarship is awarded annually to students majoring in the Economics, Management, and Accounting (EMA) Department.

The Dean’s Choice Scholarship is given by the EMA Department and the Dean of the College to a senior accounting major planning to enter the University of Ohio’s MBA program in the School of Accountancy. The scholarship is a full-tuition waiver for three quarters in the program.

The Economics, Management, and Accounting Department Scholarship recognizes outstanding scholarship in those fields. Recipients are juniors and seniors who have declared majors within the EMA department and whose academic performance meets the department’s requirements.

The Bert T. Glaze Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior EMA major showing pre-professional achievement.
